Norfolk Young Professionals Group Committee Members

Hollie Docherty

I joined the Young Professionals Group in September 2009 with the intention of getting to know more people who work in the Norfolk and Norwich area. I became a committee member early summer 2010. I joined to the committee as I wanted to be involved with introducing new people to the Young Professionals Group and organising exciting events for its members. The Young Professionals is an excellent forum to meet and network with other people within the business community in the area.

I first came to Norwich to study law at the University of East Anglia. I am now a trainee solicitor at Mills & Reeve LLP. I have previously sat with the corporate and commercial disputes teams, and now sitting with the commercial and technology team. I am also involved with the Norfolk and Norwich Junior Lawyers Division as education officer.

I joined the YPG in January 2005 and have recently decided to become more involved and volunteered to join the committee in May 2010. Over the past 5 years I have attended numerous YPG events and found them to be an excellent way of meeting other like minded professionals in a relaxed environment.

I obtained a degree in Geography from Leicester University in 2004 before deciding on a career in surveying. I then undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying from the College of Estate Management and qualified as a Chartered member of the Royal Instituion of Chartered Surveyors in May 2008. I have worked for Bidwells since December 2004 in the Commercial Agency Team, dealing with offices, industrial units and development land across Norwich and Norfolk. In my spare time I play football, golf and squash and am a keen Norwich City fan.

I joined the Norfolk Young Professional group in 2008 in order to get to know more people across a variety of professions in the local area, to make new contacts in a relaxed environment and hopefully meet new friends along the way. I've joined the committee to help organise events and expand our membership to new areas.

I am a solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial team at Howes Percival LLP, based in Norwich, having completed my training contract with them. I grew up in Norfolk but studied Law and Sociology at the University of Warwick before moving back to complete my legal practice course part time whilst working as a paralegal at another law firm. In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching sports particularly clay pigeon shooting and rugby.
